Thanks for visiting our updated
website! I’ll be sharing some thoughts and inviting you to do the
same. If you’d like to talk about what you read, contact me at pastorbev@chiquesumc.org. The
Pastor’s Page It has been
said that our calling from God is found where our passion intersects the
world’s needs. What things
are you passionate about? Children? Food?
Home? Education? Peace? Nature?
Justice? Family? Animals? Health?
Other ideas? Take some
time to think about what stirs you enough that you are willing to go out of
your way to do something about it. That would be a passion for you. Now think
about the world’s needs. What needs do you notice- Around you? On the news? In
conversations? Where could something you are passionate about help to meet one
of those needs? This would be a ministry area for you. As you think
about these questions, pray for God to point out to you what God would like you
to do about the answers you find. Keeping your heart and mind open for God to
speak to you will help. If you’d like to talk about what God is saying to you,
I’d be happy to hear from you. Next time
we’ll be thinking about what it means to be called as a congregation, a
community. In my own
life, God’s call to me has taken on different “applications” over time, but the
central call has always been to care about and care for real people in their
real lives of struggles, joys, growth, and change – to help them see themselves
as God’s beloved children. God’s call to our congregation will also change in
applications, but remain grounded in a central focus. It is exciting to
approach our planning from the viewpoint of doing what God wants us to do! The
Bible tells us that God wants to give us “a future with hope,” and that when we
seek God with all our hearts we will find God.(Jer. 29:11-13) What are you hearing from God? Keep listening
and be in touch. Blessings, Pastor Bev |
